- Cheryl Russell is a Singer and Vocal Coach from Australia whose rich warm voice delights audiences through her love of smooth, romantic jazz standards, sensual latin and bossa nova love songs and uplifting inspirational repertoire.
Cheryl's voice has often been described as "smooth as silk", "sultry & sexy", "relaxing & intimate".
Cheryl is a graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music based at Griffith University, Brisbane and completed post-graduate Music Studies specialising in Vocal Pedagogy and Jazz Voice.
For nearly ten years Cheryl has been teaching Popular Contemporary Singing from two busy studios on the Gold Coast and Hinterland. She is presently advancing further professional music studies at Central Queensland University.
Cheryl has recently completed her debut album. This long anticipated album expresses Cheryl's love of romantic ballads from the 1930's & 40's along with some seductive Latin love songs. This blend of romance and sensuality creates a wonderfully intimate and dreamy listening experience. This album is now available on itunes.

I heard your version of Moon River on my way home in the car this evening and you immediately got my attention. I commented to my partner that this is a stunning voice. I would love somebody like that to teach me how to sing!! I didn't even know you did vocal coaching far less that you are on the Gold Coast and I am too. I listened attentively hoping that the dj would tell me who I was listening to. Sure enough she did! I have come home and googled you, downloaded the album and now all that is left to do is ask you where when and if you are available for coaching? It may be down to earth but your voice is more than "Quiet Stars" it's a Super Nova! On every track I have downloaded so far your voice is PERFECT and the renditions sensual & emotionally satisfying. I only wished I had waited to write my iTunes Review until tonight after I listened after dark. As usual great jazz vocalists shine when heard after hours. I would have written a better more emotional review. Perhaps I can edit/update mine. Let me know if you know if I can.
Anyway not enough stars to rate your CD. I chose 5, but your voice deserves much more!
Sooner (I hope) rather than latter, the Jazz WORLD at large is going to find out just how real-jazz your voice is. I haven't heard anything like it since Gilberto, though yours is a different approach. I just love the ending to "What are you doing the rest of your life..."
I never heard such pure tone, pitch and expression and on a long held note no less!
It am turned me back to listening to the classics despite my own somewhat "ruddy, rugged" instrumental compositions.
The GOAL: to someday write a jazz song original worthy of YOUR voice and style! I don't know if I can do it but the good thing is: I'm a composer!
I have more tracks to download, but I want the physical CD to own. Can you tell me where in the States I can buy it?

Still, iTunes is great, isn't it? My CD: August Ocean Overture published on June 30 and yours on June 29th!
But yours is a CLASSIC! Mine is all original but there were problems with the piano sound that only $$ could fix and I'm near broke.

I'm primarily a composer and only sing my songs for lack of any vocalist to do them, but I specialize in composing in all idioms of jazz orchestral, piano and of course I write songs.
